Why Ambatana exists

The name comes from the Swahili word for coming together — to connect, align, stick fast. That's the whole premise: closing the gap between a homeowner who needs someone they can trust with their home, and a tradesperson who's already earned that trust, the hard way.

Naivasha is growing faster than the trust networks people used to rely on. New estates, new families, a workforce drawn in by the flower farms and the geothermal industry — for a lot of homeowners here now, there's no neighbour's recommendation or cousin who knows an electrician to fall back on.

At the same time, a tradesperson with years of real, careful work behind them often has no reliable way to prove it to someone who's never met them — a good reputation, built the hard way, staying invisible to the next customer who needed it most.

Trust shouldn't be a gamble. Good work shouldn't go unnoticed. Ambatana exists to make both of those true.

How it actually works

Every tradesperson on Ambatana passes the Hallmark Standard — nine independent checks covering identity, qualifications, insurance, and legal history, confirmed directly with the people who issued them, and re-run every year. Every review is matched to a real, completed job before it's published, not posted or bought.

Where we are today

Naivasha is where we're starting, deliberately — not the biggest market, but the one growing fastest without the trust networks to match it. We're still in the pilot stage: the first applications are being reviewed now, and coverage will build up trade by trade and area by area from here. We'd rather say that plainly than pretend to be further along than we are.
