How to write a job description that actually gets quoted fast

- Say exactly what's wrong, not just the room. "Kitchen tap drips constantly, cold side only" beats "kitchen plumbing issue" every time.
- Say when it started. A fault that's been there for months reads differently to a trader than one that started yesterday.
- Include a photo if you can. A blurry phone photo of the actual problem is worth more than a paragraph describing it.
- Mention access constraints upfront. Working hours only, a locked gate, a dog on the property — say it now, not when they arrive.
- Give a rough budget range if you have one. It's not binding, but it tells a trader whether this is a five-minute fix or a bigger job before they quote.
